I think we can all agree that no one is at their best after being involved in a car accident. It's at this time you may be dazed, confused, trying to determine what the heck happened and you are worried about your condition, the condition of any passengers and the other driver. This is NOT the best time to start making a lot of statements about injuries or fault. Knowing all of this the sad reality is that many people make these statements and they come back to haunt them.
The first thing you need to know is that it is never wise to admit fault even if you truly believe you were the one at fault. When you have the adrenalin rush that goes with any accident you are not the best person to state fact. If the police have been called they will talk to witnesses, gather evidence and speak with each of you. It does happen where we have had someone who thought they rear ended someone and the witness statement revealed that the car that was hit made a dangerous move and was actually the cause of the accident based on witness statements.
It is also at this point in time that someone will ask you if you are injured and the word injured means many different things to people. To some it may mean any injury at all and to others it can mean broken bones. Many people who say they feel fine after the accident have a very different story the day after than the day of. While it may be ok to refuse a trip in an ambulance it is not wise to say you are not injured until you know the actual extent and gravity of what has actually happened to you.
