Sacramento police are on the lookout for drivers under the influence as they conduct a DUI checkpoints within the city. These checkpoints are an important measure to improve public safety by getting impaired drivers off the roads. “Impaired drivers put others on the road at significant risk,” said Sacramento Police Sgt. Anna Mahoney. “Any prevention measures that reduce the number of impaired drivers on our roads significantly improve traffic safety.”

The Sacramento Police Department will hold the checkpoint in the evenings through the early morning. Specific locations aren’t disclosed in advance and are determined by data that pinpoints areas with a higher number of impaired driving-related incidents. Sacramento has been ranked among the top ten worst cities for drunk driving in the United States, according to a report from the personal finance website LendingTree. The city also appeared on the organization’s list of U.S. cities with the most impaired drivers.

What is Considered Impaired Driving? Impaired driving isn’t limited to just alcohol. According to the Sacramento Police Department, some prescription medications and over-the-counter drugs can also interfere with a person’s ability to drive safely. Additionally, while the use of medicinal and recreational marijuana is legal in California, it is still illegal to drive under the influence of marijuana. This is a crucial distinction that many people aren’t aware of.

The funding for this sobriety checkpoint is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, which is part of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. This support helps local law enforcement agencies implement proactive measures to ensure our roads are safer for everyone. By conducting these checkpoints, the Sacramento Police Department aims to remind the public about the dangers of driving while impaired and hold accountable those who choose to do so. This ongoing effort is a key part of the city’s strategy to reduce traffic accidents and save lives.

Never in my life did I think I would recommend an attorney. Somehow God sent this angel of an attorney to assist me in my personal injury lawsuit. I was told by lawyers in Bakersfield that my lawsuit was frivolous because there was money in it.
