On December 4th Acura notified their dealers to stop the sale on some Acura TLX V-6 models because of a transmission defect.  It seems that when the transmission appears to be in park that is doesn’t really end up in park.  This means that the vehicle can roll away and if you are parked on an incline of any sort this could be a really large issue.

This is one of the many issues with new technology and the race that manufacturers have in getting new products to market.  When things get overlooked or just pushed to the back burner to be dealt with later, people get injured and even die as a result.  Years ago Chrysler had a car where the seat back broke loose for no apparent reason.  Many people had the seat back break while driving, had no idea this was actually a manufacturers defect and that the defect placed them squarely in harms way.  These same owners had to pay to have Chryslers defect repaired out of their own pockets!  Acura’s current solution for those that already own one of these TLX’s is to be sure that they place the car in park and set the parking brake whenever they park the car!

Acura stresses that only certain cars have this problem and that the car buying public should know that most of the cars they are selling are safe and that Acura is using this time lag so the manufacturing team can go over the car one more time.  We would think going over the car one more time would be better done before releasing a car to the public!

Never in my life did I think I would recommend an attorney. Somehow God sent this angel of an attorney to assist me in my personal injury lawsuit. I was told by lawyers in Bakersfield that my lawsuit was frivolous because there was money in it.
