The Kidde Corporation has announced the nationwide recall of over 225,000 TruSense smoke alarm/Carbon Monoxide detectors. The defective units were sold at Walmart, Home Depot, Menards, Amazon and other stores between May of 2019 and September 2020. The seven different models sell for between $10 and $70. To date no incidents or injuries have been reported. Consumers should contact Kidde for a free replacement alarm and should keep using the recalled alarms until they install replacement alarms.
Carbon monoxide (CO) is a poisonous, colorless, odorless and tasteless gas. Although it has no detectable odor, CO is often mixed with other gases that do have an odor. So, you can inhale carbon monoxide right along with gases that you can smell and not even know that CO is present. The recalled units are Kidde Model Series 2040, 2050, 2060 and 2070 Smoke and Combination Smoke/Carbon Monoxide alarms.
