Another parachutist was killed in Lodi this past week. The diver who died was skydiving on a very windy day and while they likely meant to land at the skydiving center they instead landed on the adjacent and very busy Highway 99 with a tragic result. The skydiver was from Columbia and was unfamiliar with how strong and gusty the delta winds can become. It was unclear if there was an equipment malfunction or some other cause that may have led to this result.

The Lodi Parachuting Center has been the site of numerous fatal dives in recent years. In 2018 the FBI raided the facility and confiscated records, receipts and video footage to aid in their investigation. What brought about scrutiny of the Lodi center are the 21 fatal accidents since 1981 and seven deaths in the last 3 years. The centers plane crashed in 2016. Last week’s accident is being investigated by among others the CHP who were the first on the scene that afternoon. The skydiver was struck by a big rig truck near Acampo. Bill Dause, the owner of the Lodi Parachute Center refused to comment.

The United States Parachuting Association has revoked the membership of the Lodi Center and a family member of one of the previous victims alleges the instructors are not certified. While owner Dause assures people the instructors are certified the FAA has found forged instructor paperwork which is a violation of federal regulations. The FAA did not sanction the center and the U. S. department of Transportation is actively investigating the center.

Never in my life did I think I would recommend an attorney. Somehow God sent this angel of an attorney to assist me in my personal injury lawsuit. I was told by lawyers in Bakersfield that my lawsuit was frivolous because there was money in it.
