The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified the 73 year old who was involved in a fatal bicycle accident in East Sacramento this past week. Romulo Hocson was killed on H Street near San Miguel Way after being struck by a 54 year old man riding a motorized bike according to the Sacramento Police Department. The report says that Romulo was legally crossing H Street when he was hit, taken to a local hospital and later died of his injuries. The bicycle rider was also taken as a precaution. The police department is looking for anyone who might have witnessed this event to come forward.

Motorized bicycles and motorized scooters have dominated the news in cities where they’ve been introduced and the stories are typically horrific. Untrained riders rent these by the minute using nothing more than their cell phone. The riders, sometimes under the age of 18 and sometimes even when intoxicated are then unleashed on unsuspecting pedestrians. Since these are electric vehicles you seldom hear them approaching and when the rider is unfamiliar with what they’re riding their unintended victim is placed at great risk as is the rider. The rider of the bike or scooter has the liability based on the contract they’ve agreed to and often times even the rider is unaware of that fact. The State of California is actually encouraging the use of these vehicles as a solution to Paragraph 2, line 10….change to read “climate change, but it has created a whole new problem as pedestrians and riders are being injured or killed.” If you’ve encountered one of these and have been injured as a result, either as the rider or as a pedestrian we want to talk with you!

Never in my life did I think I would recommend an attorney. Somehow God sent this angel of an attorney to assist me in my personal injury lawsuit. I was told by lawyers in Bakersfield that my lawsuit was frivolous because there was money in it.
