San Francisco has the distinction of becoming the first major city in the United States enact an outright ban the on the sale of electronic cigarettes. According to the San Francisco Chronicle supporters of the ban hope this new law, passed by supervisors on June 25, 2019 will curb the use of e-cigarettes by young people. Critics maintain that the ban will do little more than make it more difficult for adults to purchase a legal alternative to tobacco cigarettes. The ban means that Juul Labs, the nation’s leading e-cigarette company, might no longer be allowed to remain headquartered in San Francisco. In 2018 California voters approved a ban on the sale of flavored tobacco and in 2016, a tax on sugar-sweetened drinks. E-cigarettes have now become the most commonly used nicotine-delivery devices among young people.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC&P) estimates that the number of middle and high school students who use nicotine products went up by over 35 percent between 2017 and 2018. Health officials attribute this alarming trend to e-cigarette use. Studies consistently show that e-cigarette use is linked to heart attacks, strokes and lung disease. Experts say the presence of e-cigarettes has completely reversed the progress that has been made in youth smoking over the last couple of decades. With young people having such easy and convenient access it’s become difficult to make any meaningful of progress on that front. The Food and Drug Administration, despite taking a few steps here and there, has pretty much left the issue to states and municipalities. The FDA says it’s continuing to tackle what they term as an “epidemic” of e-cigarette use and they are working to prevent access to youth by taking action against manufacturers and retailers who illegally market or sell these products to minors. The FDA is also working to educate youth about the dangers of e-cigarettes.
The proven detrimental health effects of e-cigarettes have raised concern among public health officials and many reports of exploding vaping devices that have caused devastating injuries have proved even more worrisome. It’s crucial that federal, state and local governments take the necessary enforcement steps to regulate these products and most importantly, ensure that they kept out of the hands of our young people. If you or a loved one has suffered injuries as a result of using e-cigarettes or vaping products we can assist you in the pursuit of your legal rights.

Never in my life did I think I would recommend an attorney. Somehow God sent this angel of an attorney to assist me in my personal injury lawsuit. I was told by lawyers in Bakersfield that my lawsuit was frivolous because there was money in it.
