The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is urging all drivers to be aware and heed cautionary signs. In Fresno, California a senior driver found himself on the edge of a hill on a construction site. Cautionary signs are posted to provide safety warnings to prevent drivers from putting themselves, their passengers, and anyone who may be working in closed construction areas at risk of death or injury.
CHP reported a disoriented senior driver who found his way into a closed construction area on the edge of a hill. There were no injuries. Officers reported they were able to get him to a place safely and provide him with assistance. Authorities say the CHP recommended a DMV driver’s license reevaluation and temporarily removed his car from his possession.
CHP is suggesting seasoned senior drivers keep an eye out for “Age Well Drive Smart” traffic safety classes they have coming soon. The classes discuss topics from safe driving habits to knowing when it might be time to retire from driving.
