The fuel savings app Gas Buddy completed a study recently and determined that Los Angeles has the most aggressive drivers in America. Surprised? We didn’t think so. What did surprise many people is drivers in the Sacramento area were the third most aggressive in the nation! Sacramento was only edged out of second place by Philadelphia drivers.

Analysts studied frequency of speeding, hard braking and rapid acceleration to judge how aggressive people were behaving behind the wheel to arrive at their conclusions. What concerns us is we see the injuries from overly aggressive drivers and when combined with crowded roads and distracted drivers the impact is magnified. The result of aggression when added to distraction too often leads to injuries and even death that could be prevented.

This study took into account over 70 million downloads from an optional feature that Gas Buddy offered their users to keep track of their driving habits and give tips on how to preserve fuel. We know hard acceleration and speeding costs driver’s money from increased fuel consumption and increased tire wear and it contributes to other horrible results as well.
