As Lawyers, we have the privilege of helping our clients through some of the difficult times in their lives. One of the ways we do that is to make sure that the general public knows what to do before and after something happens.

Example… most people don’t realize that if they are injured in a motor vehicle accident there are ways to make sure those injuries are covered.  This is through your own Uninsured or Underinsured Motorist Coverage.  When you are involved in an accident, the driver responsible for resulting injuries frequently has only the minimum amount of insurance coverage required under the law.  The reality is that this may not be enough to cover injuries and damages. You need to make sure you have enough uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage through your own vehicle policy to cover your needs.  Getting the highest amount of uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage is fast, inexpensive, easy and allows you to sleep better.

To secure this type of coverage, contact your insurance agent and get the maximum amount available.  Making sure that you’re insured is critical because others may not be. This is important and we have represented a number of individuals in motor vehicle accidents and have recovered damages for their injuries, including using uninsured or underinsured motorist policies.  Your agent may want to talk you out of it because while they may not make a lot of money on it you are getting a great deal and this can go against their claims record.  Buy it anyway!             Another cautionary note is knowing the moment your personal injury case begins.  If you are injured in a motor vehicle accident or otherwise, your case starts when the other person’s or company’s insurance representative contacts you for a statement or for medical information?  We strongly encourage that you don’t give a statement and don’t give away your medical information or current medical status.

Retain an experienced lawyer like you will find at Guenard & Bozarth and get good advice.   It will often seem like the insurance representative is trying to help you resolve your case quickly and easily because they want to limit their exposure and your rights to the greatest extent possible. It might seem manageable and it can quickly get complicated and you might not realize that the carrier is getting information from you that will later be used to hurt you.

There are cases that can be resolved without involving a lawyer and we have advised potential clients when this is a prudent way to go. Other times, before you know it, you will want help and you may have done more harm than good.  How will you know if the offer you get is fair?  How will you know when to settle? Avoid getting in too deep and then realizing you need a lawyer to help you.  Experienced legal counsel will let you know if you need a lawyer and can offer the help you need.

If you or a loved one has been injured in an automobile accident, please contact the Law Office of Guenard & Bozarth for a free evaluation of your legal and medical status. Never in my life did I think I would recommend an attorney. Somehow God sent this angel of an attorney to assist me in my personal injury lawsuit. I was told by lawyers in Bakersfield that my lawsuit was frivolous because there was money in it.
